“The mother of a 17-year-old boy has filed a federal lawsuit against the Huntsville Police Department claiming that officers killed the boy by tackling him to the ground, breaking his ribs, pepper-spraying him, and shoving a sharp object down his throat.
In March, the boy’s mother, Nancy Smith, filed the claim for assault and battery, wrongful death and excessive force.
The young man, whose first name is not mentioned in the lawsuit, was allegedly set up in a drug bust. When plainclothes officers — who did not identify themselves as officers — approached Smith, he fled.”* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

From 1982 to 1984, I was stationed at Maxwell AFB, in Montgomery Alabama (just down the road from Selma Alabama). I witnessed several similar incidents involving local law enforcement vs. African Americans. They told us upon in-processing the base, that the KKK was active in the area and some of them had access to the Air Force Base. They warned new Airmen who were in mixed couple relationships NOT to hold hands and walk down the sidewalk in downtown Montgomery…for their own safety. I can tell you from living there a couple of years, that the old south has not changed as much as they would like you to believe. Montgomery AL, was also the location of the “First White house of the Confederacy” during the Civil War period.

the cover story sounds horrific and violent. if this stands, these officers guilty of this must be brought to justice. how can you justify this behavior?
