A Kentucky county clerk who opposes same-sex unions for religious reasons again refused to issue marriage licenses to any couples on Tuesday, opening herself to potential fines or jail time after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to consider her petition a day earlier.

In response, a federal judge ordered Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk, to appear in court Thursday concerning a motion to hold her in contempt of his earlier order that she resume issuing licenses. The judge could impose a range of sanctions, including incarceration.

Ms. Davis also faces possible criminal charges if the state attorney general’s office grants a request to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate her.

  1. Guys, could you cover the refugee crisis in Europe more in-depth? It’s all we’re talking about here. I know you have a lot of american issues to cover, but how abou the correlation between US foreign policy and the astronomical stream of refugees coming here from the Middle East? I’m guessing I’m not the only paying member from Europe, so we would really appreciate if you could focus a bit more on this situation, because it is HISTORIC, and your country is only gonna take a ridiculously small number of these poor people.

  2. She is prime example of how anyone can be elected to position. I wonder if jail time would cause her to lose her position? Being from Canada this woman would be union protected and just as hard to rid ourselves of her.
