“Thinking that people would allow his racism, a New Jersey deli owner, James Boggess, has now had to shut down after putting a sign in his window that asking customers to celebrate ‘White History Month’. Historic irony was lost on Boggess, who failed to see that every month was celebrated with a white bias. Initially he had received lots of show of support against outcry of his message, but that eventually dried up and now he has had to go out of business.”

I was intrigued by what I heard on Washington Journal and checked out this site in hope of finding honest, insightful dialog, and to some extent this is what I found, but in sampling this and a few other clips I also was disappointed to find a smarminess mixed with over reach of the facts in some of the commentary. Comedic as it may have been, it would have been refreshing had your commentators resisted stooped to assume the deli owner couldn’t have owned a book, ill sample a few more but I didn’t come here looking for Fox news for progressives.
It might be the case that you agree or disagree with the man who put up this sign.
Whatever your opinion of the sign, isn’t it slightly unfair that he was pushed out of business because he had a thought that was different than what he was supposed to think?
I know most people are cheering and celebrating that this happened. To those people I would say: be careful what you wish for.
A young father was on the train with his 5 year old son. The 5 year began asking his father:
why is the train stopping?
why is everyone reading?
why is did the train start?
why is that man looking out the window?
why is that lady wearing in coat?
why is everone looking at me?
If this shop owner was a Nazi I’m not advocating that their shop be burned down–but I would understand.
On the other hand, how is a white history month “racist?” Is there no White history?
American Nazis and skinheads are racist sure–fuck them (hard, with a forklift twice). But why can’t white Americans discover and celebrate their history as all other Americans can?
Why can’t white American students have student unions while all others can?
Again, so it’s not misunderstood, we should NEVER tolerate any white history or union that espouses or embraces slavery, Nazism, Socialism, Communism or any other form of government or economics that oppresses people’s lives. Or for that matter ANY race’s organization that does that–not just the white people.
And in this context:
Why are billionaire conservatives called Fat Cats while billionaire liberals are merely Culturally Minded Philanthropists?
Why are gun owners judged by a few lunatics but people of the Islamic faith aren’t?
Why does Social Security keep running out of money when it was paid for out of worker’s paychecks? Whereas Welfare, Food Stamps and other social welfare programs never are in fear of running out of money–even though they’re funded from the same worker’s paychecks?
Why does 50% of America’s working citizens pay for 80% of the government?
Why is America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized?
Why is half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims?
Why do they think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government?
Why do their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer?
Why do the poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about?
Why do they have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries?
Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens?
Why do we have a two party system?
So one can work to pay for the rights of the other. Because if Progressives ruled everything there would be nobody left to pay for Progressive government programs.
