The internet has come together to get vigilante justice against a dog abuser. A woman posted a picture of her dog with its muzzle duct taped shut. The internet tracked the woman down and are pressuring local police to take action. Ana Kasparian (The Point) and John Iadarola (Think Tank) hosts of The Young Turks discuss.

“A photo posted to Facebook of a dog with its muzzle taped shut has gained worldwide attention and created a social media frenzy.
The photo with the caption “This is what happens when you don’t shut up!!!” was posted to a Facebook page belonging to a woman named Katie Brown, who according to her page lives in South Daytona.
Brown’s post was shared more than 300,000 times since it was posted Friday morning.
The South Daytona Police Department received hundreds of calls from around the state, country and world including people from Canada, Germany and Australia, which spurred them to investigate the case.”

It is AMAZING to me how annoyed Ana gets when people gather together for helping/protecting animals, and holding abusers and poachers accountable. This happens repeatedly every time there is a story like this, and every time that it does, it makes me question why I watch the second hour or any hour that has Ana on it. I think you need to do some self reflection, Ana. Do you only have a limited amount of empathy to go around? Yes people should care about human beings as much as animals. But you make it seem like people are wasting their time and effort and empathy that could be spent on humans. People should do both, so it is not fair of you to juxtapose them as one vs the other. The fact is that people don’t care as much about other humans, that’s not the animals’ fault. You should be happy that at the LEAST there is one group of living beings that people can show empathy towards, not be annoyed by it. That’s like me saying “it’s crazy to me how much empathy people have towards rape victims, but not towards the poor and needy”. It’s nonsensical! It’s a terrible thing that people aren’t as empathetic towards the poor and needy, but that doesn’t mean that I should respond to people responding empathetically towards rape victims derisively and take away from their cause by bringing up how we don’t do enough for poor people every time there is a story like that.
