Students Forced To Endure Vaginal Probing For Class Demonstration

“Two female college students said they were forced to endure almost weekly vaginal probes as part of a medical diagnostic sonography class at a Florida community college, according to a civil rights lawsuit filed in federal court.

The lawsuit by the women, identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, accuses Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, of violating their right to free speech and to protection from unwarranted searches under the first and fourth amendments.

But Carol Traynor, a spokeswoman for Valencia College, said in a statement on Monday that using volunteers, including students, for medical sonography training was a nationally accepted practice.” *

  1. It sounds like Ms Traynor ought to go back to school and maybe this time she’ll learn the definition of volunteer. Is that college staff time-warped back to the 50’s? The 1850s! It must be as difficult and embarrassing for these women as if the were raped. Kudos to them for speaking out and standing up for their rights. An excellent point raised by Mr Brown – where were the embarrassing personal probes for the male ‘volunteers’?

  2. very common practice. In medical school I allowed classmates to puncture my veins and arteries, insert nasogastric tubes into my nose and stomach, and perform various other procedures for the purpose of practice AND to know what it felt like to endure such procedures. It would be illegal to FORCE someone to tolerate these procedures and to insinuate otherwise is totally false. All students who participate are required to sign releases without coercion otherwise it would obviously result in an assault lawsuit.
