But last fall, a group of women—black and white—stood up to the backward traditions that have kept the nation’s largest Greek system segregated well into the 21st century.
Marie Claire interviewed some of the girls from the University of Alabama sororities just months after they desegregated the Greek organizations.

Unfortunately reverse racism occurs a lot, in particular in US universities when it comes to hiring a professor. I have a similar experience as you. I am an Iranian and being from the Middle East automatically puts me into the “White” category, unfortunately. Last year, I applied for many academic positions with a stellar resume, and all my peers believed that I have a very high chance of getting a job. But I did not even get a single interview. The depressing part was the list of interviewees in the schools that I had applied to, that seemed to be racially quoted. You always had one black, one Asian, one Latino and one woman, and then one white male at best, and if you would look into people in each category, you were not able to find any equivalence in qualifications. The sad part is that I have serious visual disabilities that has haunted for my entire life and I come from a lower middle class background from a remote town in Northwestern Iran, and it seems so depressing and unfair to be ‘kicked aside’ despite being more qualified simply because of the stupid quota systems that exist in the academia for political correctness purposes.

I do not fully know the bias’ in either the American University or Media systems, however I feel that it can ONLY improve with people who are able to so honestly purvey the news that they report in language that is pure, and personal.
BTW: Ana, I had no idea you were Armenian (and I don’t truly care), but it would be GREAT to see you interview System of a Down…. just saying.
