“When Israel ended its 38-year occupation of the Gaza Strip by withdrawing settlers in 2005, then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hailed it as a “disengagement” from conflict with Palestinians in the densely populated coastal enclave.

But the conflict did not end, it only changed.

Israel kept expanding settlements in the West Bank where the Palestinians also seek a state. Hardline Islamists seized control of Gaza in 2007 and periodic U.S. efforts to broker a permanent peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority under secular President Mahmoud Abbas have proved fruitless. “* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  1. If u look at the way Lindsey head is glued to the podium instead of looking straight at the audience when he said ” turning our back on Israel,… ” you can sensed that even Lindsey don’t believe this nonsense.

  2. To make the whole thing more ironic, each side worships the same god of Abraham. It is just too bad that they all can’t figure out that it all is bullshit.

  3. I agree completely. How many people have to die in a proxy war for imaginary sky gods? The whole region should be a purely secular democracy. Not a Jewish state, not a Muslim state, just a state with freedom of religion and freedom from religious oppression.
