Most presidents we are taught are “great” are NOT.
    Truman was a monster.
Have always thought that since hearing there was a peace deal on the table and Truman dropped the bombs to signal to the rest of the world that we were powerful and mighty.

haha, that’s always how it is though.

The only political stuff Ana knows about is stuff Cenk has talked about beside her before, if it’s anything that hasn’t been on the show or discussed pre-show Ana has no idea.

Sorry, Cenk, but Truman didn’t desegregate the armed forces until 1948 — three years after the war was over and before Korea began. Also, it’s important to bear in mind that LBJ himself opposed anti-lynching legislation and was known to refer to African Americans as “niggers”; at the same time, he was responsible for the most comprehensive Civil Rights bill in U.S. history. I’m not making excuses for either LBJ’s or Truman’s obviously racism, but I think that their legislative and executive legacies matter MUCH more than their personal failings.

I’ve been wondering when Cenk would get around to talking about Oliver Stone’s series. I actually said the same thing when I saw it: Truman is the original Bush.

You forgot to mention how Truman invited corporate interests into the White House. This time when it was first suggested by American business interests that the U.S. should have “a permanent war economy.” It was the dawn of the military industrial complex.
