Members Having Trouble Accessing Member Content?

First, I apologize for the length of time it took to make this post. It took me a while to comprehend the volume of people who are having problems accessing member content, and I had been trying to respond to each concern individually but inevitably some communication is falling through the cracks.

Here is the situation. Your payments are going through under our old payment system associated with the old website. We’d like to have members gradually migrate to the new payment system so that we can avoid these situations in the future.

Please go through the payment process to sign up for payments as if for the first time, and then try to login and access the member content. We fully recognize that the site has compatibility issues and there is a significant chance that this process will fail. But please try, and let us know how it turns out. If everything worked out, we’ll cancel your old payments so that you don’t get billed twice (email us at [email protected] OR you can cancel yourself through your paypal account). Be sure to send an email to [email protected] once the process is complete.

Thank you for your patience. We are fully aware of the fiasco that exists, and I apologize for causing so much frustration.

  2. Whenever I attempt to watch member content I get a error message saying the stream not found. I am able to download the video but I rather not downlaod it to my work computer. Any thoughts on what the issue is?

  3. Hi. I registered under the old website , I am afraid. My donor e-mail is the same as the address I am using on this free account. I was really silly and signed up for a free account after I had registered for Basic Membership yesterday because I thought that I would be able to enter my receipt code somewhere and just “update” this account but it looks like I was wrong. Is there anything I can do?

    When I donated, there was nothing about a username. Is there anyway to merge these accounts together?

  4. hello, I’ve been trying to find some way to get TYT to stop taking money out of my bank account (since I was not satisfied with the premium shit) and is there a way I can just straight up stop this shit?

      I’d encourage you to stick around, we’re just now reaching a point where things are working smoothly with the new site. There are still improvements to be made, but we are nearly there.

  5. ok. Here’s my question

    : up until a week or so ago, on the TYT LIVE link there was a button on player that allowed one to select ‘ full screen ‘ . the youtube link had that option for it’s player as well.

    Now now full screen option is not available on TYT LIVE player, on the youTube player the screen goes dark if full screen is selected.

    also in this period of time, video playback had degraded considerably on LIVE link.

    Here’s the but: posting ever day or so *some* type of update, no matter what it is, will show TYT subscribers that we are on your mind.

    You’ve got to do this.
    It takes 5 minutes.

    I agree with the strong need for a members troubleshooting/FAQ page that is updated with the answers. It’s going to take a while to iron out all the kinks.

    Consider this new troubleshooting/FAQ page as an investment in your membership rolls. I really hate the thought of members leaving.

      I’m working on a FAQ as we speak, and I’m not going to update the page everyday saying “hey, we are still working on it.”

      We are having complicated issues with the authentication service we use and it’s compatibility with the most common of podcast retrieval apps. Believe me, sitting on the phone for hours on end with these guys is no picnic, but we are very active towards getting this station fully functional!

    I don’t think you get told this enough, but you’ve been doing an awesome job keeping the site updated and working well recently!

      I appreciate that but I do not run the site! Give all props to our webmaster. I only make sure the content gets posted in a fashionable amount of time.

  8. WTH? I cannot believe this ongoing website “FIASCO” has not been fixed. Why not hire some pros who know what they are doing?

    My current problem is getting the membership page when I try to access the main show rebroadcast. This happened a couple of times before during the “FIASCO” but appeared to have been fixed until last nite.

    I don’t care about technicalities of Beyond Ipod, doggcatcher, Itunes, whatever. I just want to watch the show. Also, why can’t the show be posted for rebroadcast NLT 2 hours after completion?

    Does Cenk even care about the “FIASCO”? I wish he would post some info because what we get from the so-called community ambassador and other staff just ain’t gettin’ it.

      You sound like a nice person.

      That said, when there has been an update, we’ve been on top of updating you guys as we get new information about the options and resolutions that are available.

      We are working on an FAQ that should streamline the process of taking care of these issues, but until then, check the top two posts on the main page.

  9. No podcast for friday, no podcast for monday.

    I just realized it was labour day yesterday, thus probably no show, but would it be too much to ask that you at least let us know when there’s no show? A basic schedule would suffice.

  10. Here is what I don’t understand.
    Why would you make major changes to your site during your “Olympics”?
    This quadrennial period is when all the fireworks happens.
    When your clips get passed around by viewers and members to pursued their friends or provided ammo in their arguments to their frenemies.
    And you let some consultant sell you on making changes to your bread and butter site right before your political black Friday.
    I can come up with a cockamamie idea, will you throw money at me?

    So you make the changes and then you don’t test them out with a subset of members before propagating them across your entire membership. Oh that’s right TYT can’t be bothered emailing its members about jack shit. Not schedule changes. Not host changes. Hell no even on New Years or the TYT anniversary to say thank you.

    What kind of membership based site doesn’t have a FAQ section answering the most common questions?

    What kind of media site doesn’t offer iPhone/iPad live streaming of at least audio? Partner with Stitcher radio already.

    Yeah, we’re TYT, we’re the cool kids.

    Stop being kids and running things like your still in your parents basement doing a cable access show and get your shit together by hiring some experience and not just pretty faces trying to hump all the pretty girls on TYT U.

    I’ve got other ways to spend my membership money and once I turn off the spigot, I won’t open it again. Just ask my cable company.

  11. Guys, I understand tecnical problems, but why is the Ambasador on it? He is PR, not the tech dept. This is like having the press secretary fix the leak issue by diverting attention and making it look like something is being done.

    To the Ambasador: take cues from Jay Carney and just say that the investigation is on-going and that you can’t comment on it at present. Also say that the president (Cenk) would under no circumstances incur the delays on purpose, or hire a webmaster to fix them. And then apologize purfusely for throwing Cenk under the buss and say that you misspoke.

  12. Android DoggCatcher still fails on RSS feed: java.ioException: HTTP error received from server, response code: 400

    Any chance of fixing this? It worked on old site, then stopped on new site, then worked again for a while then stopped again… no difference in software just changes to RSS feed.

  13. Um… I have signed up through the new website, cancelled Paypal.

    The feed still isn’t updating. I’m not using iTunes (I don’t think that everyone does, but his inevitably is the only one mentioned in updates…) but rather I’m using a podcatcher on my phone.

    TYT is the ONLY feed that doesn’t update, and it has been this way for a very long time. Am I the only one??

  14. Where is yesterdays show? No podcast and I don’t see it on the website either? I don’t remember anyone mentioning a day off? Don’t tell me we’ll have to wait until tuesday for someone to come back and fix it!!!

  15. i love tyt but…….as hip as they are, as new media as they are….tyt is the snail of upload content, for me, i am in japan. i am already a day ahead, i get sam’s show, thom’s show, digital village, Minnesota atheists, you name it, oh, about 2 days sooner than cenk’s upload, by the time i get tyt, its old news, you guys gotta work on this, my opinion, from narita, jd

    I’m really tired of jumping through various technical hoops trying to get access to the content that I have been paying for every month for over five years. I just tried resubscribing – nothing but error messages.
    One more week. Thats all the longer I’m willing to put up with this nonsense. And that means available via Itunes download like every other podcast out there.

  17. Hey! I finally got android podcasts back. I needed to ditch doggcatcher in favor of beyondpod. BUT, one needs to use the beta version at beyondpod.mobi/android/beta.

    While I’m posting… does TYT have support for video podcasting?

      I was wondering if you were still able to automatically download member content to your phone using Beyond Pod beta. I tried downloading and installing the BP beta version 3.0.25, but without success with TYT.

      If it’s still working for you, would you post your feed configuration settings, and whether you had joined tyt again, as suggested in Kimani’s post? Did you subscribe using Google Reader, or the default method on BP?

    1. i agree, there is no member instruction book provided, we have to figure it out as we go along, but that is the new age, the good is the internet, the bad is the internet !

  19. Well I resubscribed a couple of weeks ago. My credit card was debited and all was fine. Yesterday, I tried to call up 28 august segment one and back to subscribe screen. Cound get Fridays segments – so determined to try again today same results on Monday and Tuesday. Don’t trust resubscribing every time I try to
    log-on It this want you really want?

    1. i have the same type of problems, i think tyt might be overloading the servers, or overloading the staff, its nice to see tyt succeed but the technical problems are a total pain in the ass and may be the Achilles heel that the right wing are praying for

  20. Hi Kimani! Thanks so much for the update!

    I managed to sign up for the subscription but first time it asked me to enter all kinds of information even though i was already logged in. i skipped most fields and clicked pay. it fails but takes you to another page with less fields to enter. My info was already prefilled so i clicked pay with paypal and the process was succeeded! :)

    Do you have an outlook on when you can fix the Android issue? Ive been listeting to TYT on my to/from work for about 4 years and cant listen ATM. have to carry around heavy books to read instead hahaha. Anyway, oayment thing is solved, now i just have to be able to get my content through android and ill be happy.

    I need TYT. Its like a drug :)

  21. Does doing this change our member number? Some of us have a low number and like it that way. Ask Dave about this.

      That’s unfortunately a casualty of the switch. For what it is worth, you will still be that number in our records, just not on this website incarnation.

      You didn’t know about this – but we did indeed save the member numbers and were able to bring them over to the new site. We don’t show them yet – but we’ve kept them! :)
