LIVE from TYT on Current: Akin’s “legitimate” problem, Romney taxes, and a ‘hell’ of a punishment for a valedictorian
#ToddAkin, only ducks can prevent pregnancy from #legitimaterape
Michael Shure, Dorothy Lucey and Ana Kasparian break down Rep. Todd Akin’s claim that women’s bodies can prevent pregnancy from “legitimate” rape. It turns out that it can be done — but not my humans. After doing some research, Lucey says, “Apparently, a duck can do this. A duck can will itself not to get pregnant from rape.” Kasparian says, “That’s fascinating, because [Akin] said that he’d spoken in error. He said that he’d read some sort of report. I guess he read a report on the ducks.”
‘Romney probably does have something to hide in his taxes’ — but is it an address rather than his rate?
Michael Shure and political reporter Joe Williams talk about Mitt Romney’s continued refusal to release more tax returns. “Romney probably does have something to hide in his taxes, clearly,” Williams says. “He’s going against precedent. He’s going against his own party in many cases, so there must be something very significant in there. Could be a change of address, could be that he paid less than the 13 percent. There are a lot of things we won’t know. Romney’s trying to stick it out. I don’t think is a very apt strategy. And I think it’s going to come back to haunt him in the end.”
Denying a high school valedictorian a diploma for saying ‘hell’ is the most ridiculous zero tolerance policy in this U.S.
Michael Shure and Ana Kasparian lay into an Oklahoma high school for denying the valedictorian her diploma because she used the word “hell” in her graduation speech. “They’re denying her diploma because she used the word ‘hell’ — something that isn’t even banned by the FCC,” Kasparian says. “I can say it as much as I want on this national television show.”
