Gun Control: 86% Of Americans Support Requiring Buyers To…
“In the wake of last week’s tragic mass shooting in Aurora, CO, some in the media are distorting public opinion and election results to predict that the events will not have an impact on the debate over gun violence prevention. In fact, polls indicate public support for a broad range of stronger gun restrictions, including the reinstatement of the assault weapons ban, which may have prevented the legal purchase of one of the alleged shooter’s guns…”.* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more here from Matt Gertz of Media Matters: mediamatters.org

Hi Turks, I’m British and as you may or may not know our gun laws are Very Strict indeed, I have a couple of questions on 2 subjecs that will eventually link up to my debate, 1. Your right to free speech and the right to what you want, 2.the right to own a firearm in a couple of days (no matter what), now the right to own a firearm for no reason is obserd, they should have to justify why they need a firearm, here’s a dilemma ; your an American citizen able to do what you like and say what you like, and then someone takes you hostage, do you still have the right to free speech and to do what you like? No becuase the perp is now in control of you, so surely the gun law is contradicting the right to free speech and to do what you want isn’t it? In Britain I can own a firearm if I justify why I want it, I own a .22 caliber Enfield purely for recreational and memorabilia use, but I must take it to the police firearms station every year to have checked for various things, I would appreciate it if I got a response, as it hate seeing poor innocent lives go to waste becuase of the polices brought in by the government. Thankyou
And about taking on the police.
What did you think the colonists did?
Did they patiently wait for the police and the military to give them their right?
No, they picked up their rifles and fought the British Army.
Funny thing, the colonist’s rifles were the same as and in some cases superior to the rifles held by the British Army.
That folks is the exact same thing as an American today using his/her AR-15 against the US Army.
Would it work today?
Syria, Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq.
Btw, AK-47′s have been banned in the USA since the 1930′s.
AK-47′s are fully automatic assault rifles.
Also fully automatic rifles (machine guns) have been illegal in California.
So are Assault rifles with high capacity magazines.
That did not stop them from being used to rob the Bank of America in North Hollywood.
In that case they were semi automatic rifles that were converted to fire in full auto mode.
If you want to stop the use of fire arms, you will need to ban all manufacturing, sale, ownership and use of all guns.
All pistols, rifles, shotguns.
You need to restrict the sale, ownership of milling machines.
You need to restrict the sale of saltpeter, Nitrocellulose.
You need to restrict the sale and possession of brass.
You need to restrict the sale and possession of scrap metal.
Cause guess what, a shop that makes custom wheels for cars can make a precision rifle.
Try restricting that.
